Red Snapper News Bites 10.05 - Bringing it to life

Every picture tells a story
Architectural photography is one of my passions and I love being asked to bring buildings to life. At Ian Bruce Photography we pride ourselves on coming up with creative ways to achieve stunning results that really put the life into the most static of subjects. Take a look at these three very different examples:

Design Quarters, a design agency based at Carrington Business Park, commissioned us to create a photo storyboard of the entire park over a three-day shoot. They wanted to see a 'day in the life' of the park with photography that captured exterior shots, case studies of tenants, the range of businesses on the park and the up-market facilities on offer as well as shots of the people behind the park.

The photography was to be used as part of a major rebranding exercise so it was essential that it was contemporary, lively, and up-market and really said 'this is where business happens'.

Using candid, fly on the wall techniques we created shots that incorporated movement and action to bring the park to life. The images are being used in brochures initially and will be rolled out across the web and display materials shortly.

Bromsgrove School, an independant co-educational day and boarding school in the Midlands, opened its new £2.5m Humanities Building in September. Architects and designers Buttress Fuller Alsop Williams of Manchester (www.bfaw.co.uk) commissioned us to take shots that would showcase their work on the project.

They requested photographs that illustrate the building and the rooms and spaces within it in a bright, light and contemporary way that truly interprets and embraces the spirit of the building. We captured the quality of this through a number of technical and abstract shots, which clearly demonstrate the aesthetics that create the mood and ambience of the beautifully designed new classroom block - more than just a functional educational building

Our initial photography for The Deckers Group owned Plough and Flail pub in Mobberley was so successful that they asked us back to shoot some images on a beautiful summers day. We wanted the viewer to smell the food, hear the fun and feel the quality so, through a combination of lifestyle and moving images, we captured the essence of the quality food and service and the ambience of an up-market lively country pub. We then used still-life techniques to highlight the attention to detail in the interior design and accessories. I'm sure you can see why the client is delighted with the results.
